Dear all,
one of My friend is running an emu farm and two of his emus are facing problem of leg-bending.( i dont know the name of disease but legs are bending: as we used to see in dogs!! )
Do suggest me the exact cause of this and also appropriate remedies.
I would really appreciate if anyone can send reference publication for the same.

Hi Sushant,
Bending or deformity of limbs (rickets) is frequently a sign of mineral imbalances especially of calcium and phosphorus. How is your friend feeding the emu's, is he using any pre-formulated feed mixture. He should augment the feed with limestone or ground bones to correct any Ca/P imbalance.
You have not mentioned any other sign, are the emu's walking normally even with these deformities.
Please let us know all the signs so that a more specific suggestion could be made.
Also sometimes Vitamin deficiencies too cause limb and tendon problems, you could use a multi-vitamin supplement with the drinking water for a month or so.
