REVISITED – The animal tragedies of the October 2005 earthquake

Posted by Anjum Andrabi on 12th August 2008

The October 2005 earthquake shattered many homes and killed thousands of people. Rescue and rehabilitation work was undertaken in the affected regions by many organizations. Our members volunteered for providing treatment and care to the affected animals. Here are a few pictures taken during that visit.

Apologies for the quality, these are 0.3MP mobile phone images.

We pray that the miseries of these people, that continue into the third post-quake year may end soon. They were living off the land which erupted under their feet. They lost their loved ones and in the loss of livestock their livelihood. This picture of a kid always brings back to memory the pain, fears and hopes of the affected people. Mushtaq this is to your resilience.
