So that dosages which are otherwise therapeutic in dogs lead to poisoning in cats.<\/p>\n<p>Toxicity of cypermethrin depends strongly on the<span> <\/span><i eza=\"cwidth:0px;;cheight:0px;;wcalc_source:child;wcalc:45px;wocalc:45px;hcalc:18px;rend_px_area:0;\" cwidth=\"0\" style=\"max-width: 412px; font-style: italic; background-color: transparent; background-size: auto;\">cis:trans<\/i>isomer ratios (usually 80:20; 40:60; 25:75), whereby the<span> <\/span><i eza=\"cwidth:0px;;cheight:0px;;wcalc_source:child;wcalc:15px;wocalc:15px;hcalc:18px;rend_px_area:0;\" cwidth=\"0\" style=\"max-width: 412px; font-style: italic; background-color: transparent; background-size: auto;\">cis<\/i>isomers are biologically more active but also more toxic than the<span> <\/span><i eza=\"cwidth:0px;;cheight:0px;;wcalc_source:child;wcalc:27px;wocalc:27px;hcalc:18px;rend_px_area:0;\" cwidth=\"0\" style=\"max-width: 412px; font-style: italic; background-color: transparent; background-size: auto;\">trans<\/i><span> <\/span>isomers.<\/p>\n<p>Besides neurotoxic effects, cypermethrin has also<span> <\/span><strong eza=\"cwidth:0px;;cheight:0px;;wcalc_source:child;wcalc:68px;wocalc:68px;hcalc:36px;rend_px_area:0;\" cwidth=\"0\" style=\"max-width: 412px; font-weight: bold; background-color: transparent; background-size: auto;\">hepatotoxic effects<\/strong><span> <\/span>and induces microsomal enzymes in the liver.<\/p>\n<p>Major clinical signs in cats include:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"margin:1em0px; padding:0px0px0px40px; color:rgb(51,51,51); font-family:Verdana,Geneva,\" dejavusansarialhelveticasans-serif=\"dejavusansarialhelveticasans-serif\" _16px=\"font-size:_16px\" normal=\"white-space:normal\" _400=\"font-weight:_400\" _2text-indent0px=\"orphans:_2text-indent0px\" none=\"text-transform:none\" _2=\"widows:_2\" _0px=\"_-webkit-text-stroke-width:_0px\" rgb255255255=\"background-color:rgb255255255\" initial=\"text-decoration-color:initial\" left=\"text-align:left\">\n<li>Tremors\/muscle fasciculations (86%)<\/li>\n<li>Twitches (41%)<\/li>\n<li>Hyperaesthesia (41%)<\/li>\n<li>Seizures (33%)<\/li>\n<li>Pyrexia (29%)<\/li>\n<li>Ptyalism (24%)<\/li>\n<li>Ataxia (24%)<\/li>\n<li>Mydriasis (19%) and<\/li>\n<li>Temporary blindness (12%)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In these picture we see a cat showings signs of cypermethrin toxicity 6 hours after being shampooed with a cypermethrin based cleanser.
