Herniorrhaphy in a Sheep (ewe)

The 4 year old ewe was presented with a swelling on underside of her abdomen having an ulcerated wound. The swelling was diagnosed as ventral hernia and corrected surgically.
Incision was given across the swelling
Extensive adhesions were encountered and cleared.
Intestines and peritoneum reduced back through the hernial ring.

The incision is closed in 3 layers.
